"News From Friends & Formers"

During the celebration of our 36th anniversary year we thought it would be fun to bring everyone up-to-date with some of our former titleholders and contestants in kind of a "Where Are They Now."  Enjoy!

Eileen O'Connell Moore served as Miss Klamath  County 1978. She graduated from Sacred Heart and went on to the University of Oregon where she studied Architecture for two years before moving to California. She received her BA in Advertising and Marketing from San Jose State University.  Her company Emerald Advertising celebrated its 21st anniversary this past May.  She is the proud mother of two sons Austin (15) and Dylan (12) and has volunteered untold hours with their schools doing fundraising events.  Eileen is involved personally and professionally with a grassroots organization called National School Choice Week which focuses on bringing about K-12 education reform.  She is also actively involved with Kids and Art a small non-profit organization which brings children with cancer and artists together to create works of art to be sold at auction.  Proceeds are used to purchase art supplies and to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In her spare time Eileen enjoys writing fiction, having participated in Stanford University's Writers Studio over the past several years.  Although she is not yet a published author she is keeping her fingers crossed.  She also enjoys reading and gardening.
Now living in Scottsdale, AZ, Leilani Sang O'Brien served as Miss Klamath County 1992. She is married to Dan O'Brien, a coach, trainer and motivational speaker.  Leilani graduated from Mazama High School and received a BA in both Biology and Kinesiology, as well as a Masters in Animal Behavior all from Arizona State University.  She has a rich professional life both in the field of athletics and as an animal researcher/conservationist in Costa Rica (studying primates, mostly the Howler Monkey) and in Africa (researching African Wild Dogs).  She is the President of a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for both local and global animal conservation projects.  Leilani enjoys traveling, attending sporting events and concerts, and spending quality time with her husband and their dogs.

We are so happy and delighted to announce that former contestant and long-time board member Heidi Hug recently married Brandon Meserve.  Heidi is a graduate of OIT with a degree in Psychology, and Concordia University with a degree in Elementary Education.  She works for the Klamath Falls City School District and Brandon works for the 173rd Fighter Wing Oregon Air National Guard.  Heidi, Brandon and her son Connor are making their home in Klamath Falls.  Our deepest congratulations and wishes to them for a lifetime of wonderful!

Former Miss KC-Miss COS Outstanding Teen contestant Raely Longmacher became Mrs. Michael Thoennes on July 17, 2011 in a beautiful beach wedding.  Raely works as a color artist with Sephora in Portland, Oregon.  She and her husband have also formed a hip/hop Christian label with a group of very talented aspiring artists called Never Fade Records.  She is the CEO and artist (she is a beautiful singer) and Michael is responsible for all the production elements.  Raely says "We have a strong passion for God and music.  We are on a mission to spread the gospel!"  We wish Raely and Michael great happiness.
